Our federal agency was awarded funds from the 45th element of the economic stimulus package “Combating the effects of the coronavirus, securing prosperity, strengthening future viability” (“Corona-Folgen bekämpfen, Wohlstand sichern, Zukunftsfähigkeit stärken”). The intention behind this is to specifically promote the economy within the scope of our responsibility. As part of the specially established KoPa_45 project, we have set up a funding programme to invest these funds in innovations for the broadband Public Safety Digital Radio.
In doing so, we aim to utilise the advantages of 5G and, in future, 6G mobile communications standards for mission-critical communication networks. On the other hand, we want to research how Edge and Cloud Technologies can be used in a meaningful manner in mission-critical areas. The funding programme started on 31/07/2023 and will run until the end of 2025.
In order to be able to test ideas and products, we provide a broadband development environment from project funds. This development environment consists of a stationary and a mobile hybrid LTE/5G campus network. Consequently, participating companies and organisations can simulate the network conditions that can be expected in a broadband Public Safety Digital Radio beyond the year 2030.
