1996/2000

According to a decision by the Conference of Interior Ministers, a uniform digital radio network is to be created in Germany; all authorities and organisations mandated to perform security tasks require a uniform communication system.

The Conference of Minister-Presidents decides to create the prerequisites for the gradual introduction of the Public Safety Digital Radio. The existing analogue radio is to be gradually replaced.

2006

Following a tender procedure, the future system supplier for the Public Safety Digital Radio is awarded the contract.

2010

The technical operation of the Public Safety Digital Radio is handed over to Alcatel Lucent Digitalfunk Betriebsgesellschaft (today: ALDB GmbH) following a tendering procedure.

2011/2012

The first network section goes into extended trial operation; the following year, the Public Safety Digital Radio is in full operation in the first federal state.

2013

The core network is fully established and available throughout Germany.

The entire network structure has been completed.
