BDBOS Meeting Platform combines video and telephone conferencing solutions of the Federal Networks

Date 05/01/2021

The corona crisis has significantly increased the need for telephone and video conferencing due to the increased use of mobile working within public administration. As a result, the functionality and performance of the Federal Networks' video and telephone conferencing instances have been significantly expanded in recent months. In future, the instances will be combined in a standardised booking system, the BDBOS Meeting Platform.

The instances for audio and video conferences reflect the different requirements and security levels of the customers of the Federal Networks. The newly established “CMS-Bund” instance takes account of the increased demand for communication with authorities and institutions outside the Federal Networks and is therefore a useful addition to the Federal Administration's existing services.

In addition, the BDBOS has expanded existing instances to include the open standard WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication). This enables access to video conferences via a browser and thus facilitates mobile collaboration.

The measures taken will also serve to network the federal administration more efficiently in future, not only internally, but also with participants from the federal states, non-governmental organisations, industry, research and education. The BDBOS will continuously expand its capacities due to increasing demand.
