Areas of interest and research questions for the BDBOS funding programme

Date 09/03/2023

Preparations for the BDBOS funding programme are entering the crucial phase. In order to allow interested parties to discuss the issues at this stage, the BDBOS is publishing the areas of interest and research questions that it would like to address with the funding programme.

The BDBOS is working at full speed on the publication of the funding guidelines for the first funding programme in its history and the associated call for project outlines. In this context, it is today publishing extensive information on the content of the funding programme as a first step.

These are research questions that concern the BDBOS in the context of current and foreseeable future requirements for broadband digital radio. These questions are categorised into five areas of interest from the field of mission-critical broadband networks:

  • Mission-supporting applications,
  • Control centres, smart devices and other end devices,
  • App, subscriber and end device management,
  • Network operation, access, transitions and interworking and
  • Device-to-device (D2D) communication

They will also be reflected to a large extent in the funding guideline and can provide an impetus for possible project ideas.

The questions are not exhaustive. Interested companies and institutions can of course also submit their own, possibly differing ideas. At the same time, project outlines that address one or more of the research questions listed are not eligible for funding under the funding programme.

You can request the catalogue of possible research topics directly from the KoPa_45 project.

All further information on the KoPa_45 funding programme can be found here on the BDBOS website.
