The BDBOS now has a new president. With effect from 1 October 2024, Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser appointed Jens Koch as the new President of the agency. The fully qualified lawyer is transferring from the Federal Chancellery and takes up his post today.

Koch is not only considered an expert on security at the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community (BMI): His career at BMI and in the Chancellery, as well as his extensive experience in the Federal Agency for Technical Relief and in the committees of the Conference of the Interior Ministers, shaped his expertise in the area of public authorities and organisations with public safety responsibilities.

Most recently, his responsibilities at the Federal Chancellery included the foreign intelligence service, the intelligence status, as well as the areas of extremism, terrorism and public safety.

Jens Koch emphasises: “I am aware of the many tasks that the BDBOS needs to accomplish now and in the coming years, and I am determined to tackle them together with our partners at the federal and state level. Together we will master the challenges.”

The BDBOS warmly welcomes its new president and looks forward to the forthcoming developments under his leadership.
